Digital reading room / family history
A name in a register. A place on a map. A note in the margin. Piece together individual clues to build connections supported by evidence.
In development and internal testing.
01 Starting point
Every search has a different beginning. Choose a path based on the information you already have.
Start with a name, place or date. Our internal tests cover archive searches and follow-up research based on the records found.
A family document, a memory or a familiar place. Even a small detail can suggest where to look next.
Build on the facts, sources and notes you already have. A dedicated workspace for your own research is being prepared.
Public access is being prepared. Archive searches and register transcription are already undergoing internal testing; source coverage and transcription accuracy vary.
02 Research approach
A discovery is the start of an inquiry. Comparing details shows which connections are supported and what still needs checking.
What exactly do you want to find out, and what do you already know?
Which details agree, are missing or conflict?
Decide on the next step and on the identity of the person.
We know a name and an approximate place of birth.
Starting information ≠ verified identityThe answer may be in the register of the relevant parish.
Check the parish and the date range of the entry.
The question remains open03 Our principles
At every step, you need to know where information comes from and what it can actually tell you.
Choose a search and follow its progress. Further options remain available; any background transcription shows its status.
Results distinguish matches, gaps and conflicts. Machine transcription is material to check, not proof of identity.
Possible matches are not merged automatically. You decide whether they refer to the same person.
Searches and edits in the internal test stay in your browser for 24 hours after your last activity. You can save checked materials for your research.

We are developing ACTARELIA for family history research. Internal testing follows the path from a person query to archival sources and record review.
The public reading room and user accounts are being prepared. Transcriptions and family connections need checking against the original image.
